A movie about Beethoven, starring Gary Oldman.
A tradition in some universities and colleges is to play all nine of Beethoven’s symphonies to celebrate the end of Finals Week. This is the end of Finals Week where I teach, so enjoy!
Musik höhere Offenbarung ist als alle Weisheit und Philosophie. (“Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.”)

I forgot, alas, to make the usual music post last Friday. To make up, I’m putting some extra in today. Enjoy!
Had to do the Eighth movement by movement. Also, last year I must have started this series on a Sunday instead of a Monday, since I’m having to repost two for today. Nevertheless, enjoy.
I couldn’t find a single video of the whole Fourth, nor could I get all movements from the same performance. Also, the Fifth deserves a day of its own, but if I don’t double up here I won’t get the week done right. Oh, well. It’s still Ludwig Van’s symphonies, so it’s OK.
