Coptic Chant
In the spirit of the last post about Egypt and Mesopotamia, for this weekend’s music I’m putting up a sample of Coptic chant. Coptic is, of course, the last phase of the ancient Egyptian language, and is still the liturgical language of the Coptic Orthodox Church. The Coptic Church is very ancient, tracing its history to the 1st Century, and it has many venerable and beautiful traditions, as exemplified here.
